In our simulation, 208 / 1233 = 16.86% chance of getting 5 or more females in a random lottery. Many of you were correct in class today. 16.86% will not qualify as a strong discrimination case in a court of law. However, as we were learn by the end of the course, if we saw 6 females hired in a "fair lottery", our simulation shows that 58 / 1233 = 4.7% chance of 6 or more. A 4.7% chance would make a strong case that the company did not conduct a fair lottery and some form of discrimination did take place.
